Dear Families,
Who would have guessed that a little snow would keep us out of class this much?
As soon as we all end up back in school for a full day, I will be giving your students their log-in information for our class Student Treasures book. Our classes have been working for quite a while on crafting and editing our own folk tales and the final step of this project is a foray into on-line electronic publishing.
The due date for the final product for each student will be FEBRUARY 17th, 2014. All Folk Tales must be ready for submission by midnight. Unfortunately, I am unable to be flexible with this deadline due to the publishers restrictions. Students who do not make a submission will not be included in the book. All submissions will be graded as a product grade.
Students can access the rough drafts of their folk tales on their SMCPS Moodle account, which can be found on line and accessed from home at
http://moodle4.smcps.org/
Your student should already know their log-in requirements for moodle, and the folk tales are under their Writing course.
The Student Treasures website is:
http:onlinepublishing.studentreasures.com
While we will be using class time to work on these projects, our crazy weather isn't giving me a lot of confidence; so I will be encouraging the students to utilize "homework time" to polish their stories.
It would be most helpful if you could remind your child to work on their stories if they have computer access at home, or to request the use of a laptop at school during study hall or indoor recess if they can't access the internet at home.
Once we get a chance to actually start, I will publish updates on our Weebly website, so that you keep up with our progress and help reinforce the deadlines and requirements with your student.
Information will be coming home soon with your student to inform you how you can acquire a Student Treasures book from your student's class.
Thank you very much for your help with this project! I am looking forward to some awesome books from our awesome authors!!
Sincerely,
Ms. K
